Drive Audio

Posted by kmooney on August 30, 2011 at 12:00 am

I saw the movie Drive this past week and was struck, as many have been, by the theme music. Here are three pieces I put together this weekend with that opening sequence moving through my head.

Pure Data Midi Note On-Off Solution Update

Posted by kmooney on April 26, 2011 at 9:45 am

I received a follow up from Joe White at RJDJ regarding a Pure Data midi note solution I posted about previously:

I saw your blog post about handling midi note data in pure data – http://kemptonmooney.com/2010/09/pure-data-midi-note-off-solution/
I realise this was a while ago for you but I’ve been constantly running into the same problem. I like [...]

Cathedral Music

Posted by kmooney on March 27, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Played with creating generative music today using Impromptu. Just trying to get a little more familiar with it and the Scheme language. Here are two files of organ music and one of flute music I created based on concepts from Andrew Sorensen. Both were created from the same generative process, so they are similar but [...]

I recorded a track for a Japanese tsunami relief album that the monome community is putting together. Below is a link.
The album is in support of www.doctorswithoutborders.org, www.jrc.or.jp, and shelterbox.org.

Posted by kmooney on January 23, 2011 at 10:24 pm

Here is a piece I did using Bach’s Italian Concerto and Concerto in Cm with some rearrangements and played on an analog synth and pumped through some reverb units (with some added effects, of course…).

Experimentation with Noiseplug

Posted by kmooney on December 30, 2010 at 3:43 pm

I have been playing around with Smider’s Noiseplug tools, designed in Max/MSP. Below is a little sample, not a finished track but just an example of the noise that can be made. The tools are great for simple ambient generated from samples, as will as minimal glitch rhythms.
