I received a follow up from Joe White at RJDJ regarding a Pure Data midi note solution I posted about previously:
I saw your blog post about handling midi note data in pure data – http://kemptonmooney.com/2010/09/pure-data-midi-note-off-solution/
I realise this was a while ago for you but I’ve been constantly running into the same problem. I like your solution but it seems like it would only remember just the previous note held down. I think in Pd help patches C.10 monophonic synth does a similar thing (might be useful). It gets trickier though when you want to remember more than one note – such as when playing arpeggios.
So i wrote an external that would basically handle the incoming midi note stream and order the priority list so that the last held note would be played. Not sure if it’s still relevant to you but you said to get in touch

For more about Joe’s solution and his external, there is a good thread over at pd-list here:

Thanks to Joe for his feedback, and if you have not checked out the great stuff RJDJ has been doing with Pure Data and mobile apps, definitely go check it out! http://rjdj.me/
